Ad Server
A program or a type of server that manages and maintains ad banners for a Web site or collection of Web sites. These programs are extremely sophisticated and are capable of keeping track and reporting Web site usage statistics. Ads can then be targeted towards certain types of individuals. It also provides the ability to rotate banners so a user won't see the same ad every time they come back to the same page.
ADB (Affiliation Database)
The formal system where web developers / editors are encouraged to list affiliated websites. Also known as ADB
Administrative Contact
The person responsible for the administrative duties of a domain name registered with us. All correspondence reference contact details and certain changes to the domain will be sent to the Administrative Contact e-mail address.
ADN (Advanced Digital Network)
Usually refers to a 56Kbps leased-line
ADO (ActiveX Data Object)
A Microsoft technology that provides data access to any kind of data store.
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
A special type of DSL line where the upload speed is different from the download speed.

The Adult/ category holds sites and categories intended for a mature audience.

Affiliate
Businesses that run affiliate programs, pay a commission on sales of their products or services generated from your website. Commission amounts vary. As an affiliate, you host a link or banner promoting the company's website or product
Affiliate Link
Hypertext links which represent a relationship between a primary seller and an affiliate. There is usually, but not always, an affiliate or referral ID embedded in the URL of such a link. e.g. http://nexttrak.com/?productID=234&affiliate=nexttrakterms is a fictitious affiliate link that might be placed on the affiliate's site (nexttrakterms' s site) directing traffic to the nexttrak.com site. Nexttrak.com would then pay a commission to nexttrakterms based on sales resulting from that traffic.
Affiliate Programs
AProfit sharing strategy which an e-commerce company utilizes where commissions are paid to webmasters of other sites for referring customers to them. Customers are led from one site to another by affiliate links.
